The Past Meets the Present: Race, Student Activism and Higher Education with Dr. Stefan Bradley, Dr. Ibram Kendi, and Dr. Keeanga-Yahmatta Taylor

This opening keynote event features Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, a National Book Award-winning author and professor of history and international relations at American University and Dr. Stefan Bradley, chair of the Department of African American Studies and associate professor at Loyola Marymount University and author of Upending the Ivory Tower: Civil Rights, Black Power, and the Ivy League. The event will also include Dr. Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, author of From #BlackLivesMatter to Black LiberationHow We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective, which won the 2018 Lambda Literary Award for LGBTQ Nonfiction.

This innovated interactive discussion will focus on the history and impact of student activism, race, and the impact of marginalized students on the institution of higher education and its white supremacist legacy.  Book signing to follow
