Navigating Institutional Whiteness

  • Carl A. Fields Center MPR (map)

Presented by Shane Lloyd, Assistant Director of the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale University.

Conversations about race in the college setting typically focus on the critical work of recruiting and retaining people of color, but carefully facilitated reflection on whiteness is also an important means for enhancing one's ability to meaningfully and effectively address matters of race broadly. Participants will learn how to cultivate valuable spaces for white identity exploration and develop practical skills that are drawn from taking a critical look at institutional whiteness. Open to students and staff.
